Medical School Ambassador

Be Physician Innovator's voice at your medical school. Connect classmates with PI programs, host local events and bring student ideas to the national team.

About the role

Ambassadors are the backbone of Physician Innovator. Every Canadian medical school has students who want to build things: apps, devices, services, better ways of working. Most don’t know where to start or who to talk to. As an ambassador, you are that person on your campus.

We aim for one or two ambassadors at each of Canada’s medical schools. The schools that don’t have one yet are listed on the careers page.

What you’ll do

  • Share PI programs, Grand Rounds and the annual conference with your class and student interest groups
  • Organize at least one local event a year, such as a founder talk, a networking night or a pitch practice session, with support from the national team
  • Point classmates to the right incubators and resources at your school (see Road to Innovation)
  • Join a monthly ambassador call to swap ideas with ambassadors at other schools
  • Bring student feedback and ideas back to the steering committee

What you’ll gain

  • A national network of medical students, residents and physician founders who share your interests
  • Mentorship and introductions from physician entrepreneurs in the PI community
  • Leadership experience you can speak to in CaRMS applications and interviews
  • A profile on our About page

Who we’re looking for

  • A current medical student at a Canadian medical school (any year)
  • Curious about health innovation, technology or entrepreneurship. You don’t need a startup or a technical background.
  • Organized and comfortable reaching out to classmates and student groups

How selection works

Send a short application. A member of the steering committee will set up a 20-minute video call with you. New ambassadors usually start in September or January, with an onboarding session and a handover from the previous ambassador where there is one.
